| Uppal's Orchid has incorporated
many features to ensure efficient utilization of energy.
Some of these are: Compact
Fluorescent Lamps (CFL)/Fluorescent Tubes-
Uppal’s Orchid has primarily used CFLs for their
external landscaping. For the interiors, CFLs, Halogens
and low voltage chokes, which provide as much as light
as ordinary bulbs but consume substantially less energy,
have been used. For instance, a 10W CFL lamp would give
an equal amount of brightness as a 60W incandescent
bulb using power consumption of 25% while the latter
would have an energy consumption of 100%. Additionally,
the room lights and the air-conditioning become active
only when the guest’s key is inserted in the keyhole.
·
Mini Bars- There is a mini-bar installed
in every room that saves up to 40% of energy. The refrigerator
in the bar is equipped with ‘Fuzzy Logic’
and that senses the load inside the refrigerator and
cools accordingly. An added advantage of these bars
is that they are CFC free.
Electronic Master Control Panel- This
control panel in all guestrooms incorporates a unique
feature known as the ‘Green Button’. On
pressing this button the temperature of the room goes
up by 2 degrees. This saving of energy is translated
into points that are accredited to the guest.
This allows the guest to voluntarily participate in
the environment saving programme and Uppal's Orchid
appreciates the gesture by presenting them a Certificate
of Acknowledgement. This panel also flaunts DND
(Do Not Disturb), Laundry and ‘Make up room’
buttons, which make it easy for the housekeeping personnel
to serve the guest and reduce the wastage generated
by door hangers. |
